LANGUAGE & CULTURAL BACKGROUND

A native Japanese speaker, Dr. Michiko is fluent in Japanese and is a certified Japanese calligraphy instructor through Nihon Shuji in Japan.

My clinical approach emphasizes mindful, results-driven acupuncture care. I believe effective healing requires addressing both presenting symptoms and the underlying physiological imbalances that contribute to them.

Treatment focuses on regulating the nervous system, restoring homeostasis, and supporting the body’s innate self-healing mechanisms.

I practice with a whole-person, mind–body framework and provide patient-centered care with professionalism, empathy, and precision. Each treatment plan is individualized based on clinical assessment, patient condition, and comfort level.

I am also a fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (FABORM), an advanced specialty distinction recognizing expertise in integrative fertility and reproductive care. This credential reflects advanced training, rigorous examination, and a deep commitment to evidence-informed support for natural conception, IVF/IUI, recurrent pregnancy loss, hormonal balance, PCOS, endometriosis, and male fertility.

With extensive clinical experience supporting fertility and infertility care. I have worked with numerous individuals and couples navigating natural conception as well as assisted reproductive treatments, and I provide ongoing care for pre- and post-menopausal patients (men and women) managing hormonal, physical, and emotional transitions

I integrate three acupuncture systems—Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) with trigger point techniques, and Japanese-style acupuncture under Master Kiiko Matsumoto—to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Adjunctive modalities include cupping, moxibustion, electrical stimulation, energy-based therapies, therapeutic stretching, facial acupuncture, and evidence-informed lifestyle recommendations.

Currently, I practice in Midtown Manhattan and Jersey City, with availability to travel within the tri-state NYC and Jersey City area for patients comfortable with these settings.

I am also committed to global and community health initiatives.

I have volunteered clinically in a rural village in Bajrabarahi, Nepal, through the nonprofit Acupuncture Relief Project, serving underserved populations. Additional volunteer work includes the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge and New York Harm Reduction Educators.
